Arctic White James Hardie Shake Siding on a Colonial in Medfield
This Medfield home is a colonial with a steep gable roof, a brick chimney, and a columned entry portico set on a wooded lot. The siding wraps the whole house and every corner and gable is on display, so the material and color set the tone for the entire exterior.
We re-sided the house in James Hardie fiber cement shake in Arctic White. Hardie shake is a dimensionally stable, fire- and rot-resistant board with a deep, textured shingle profile, and Arctic White gives the house a clean, bright base. The crisp white shake reads as a fresh, classic New England exterior and holds a sharp shadow line across the gables.
We stripped the old siding, checked and repaired the sheathing, and ran new house wrap before installing the Hardie. Corners, window and door trim, and the gable and portico details were all wrapped for a tight, finished look, and the shake courses were kept level across the full run so the new siding replacement reads straight from every angle.
