Colonial Slate Landmark Pro on a Cape in Milton
This Milton home is a Cape with cream clapboard, a fieldstone-faced entry and chimney, sage-green shutters, and an attached garage. Foundation shrubs line the front on a corner lot. The long front slope is the dominant face of the house, so the shingle color reads directly against the cream walls and stone.
We installed CertainTeed Landmark Pro in Colonial Slate. Colonial Slate is a cool gray blend with lighter and darker granules that mimics natural slate. Over cream clapboard and fieldstone the gray roof gives the Cape a calm, traditional cap and lets the warm stone and trim stand out.
We tore the old roof off down to the deck, replaced any soft sheathing, and ran ice and water shield at the eaves and through the valleys before laying the field. The chimney was step-flashed into the slope, the garage was tied into the main roof, new drip edge went on along the eaves and rakes, and the ridge was capped to match the coursing. On a Cape the eave runs the full width, so it had to stay straight for the asphalt roof replacement to read right.
