Georgetown Gray Landmark Pro on a Cape in Milton
This Milton home is a white clapboard Cape with three gabled dormers, sage-green shutters, a columned entry, and an attached garage stepping off one end. Clipped hydrangeas bank the foundation. The broad front slope with its dormers is the dominant face of the house, so the shingle color sets the tone for the whole front.
We installed CertainTeed Landmark Pro in Georgetown Gray. Georgetown Gray is a mid-gray blend with cool and warm granules mixed through it. Over white walls and green shutters the gray roof stays soft and traditional and keeps the Cape from going stark, while still holding a clear line above the dormers.
We tore the old roof off down to the deck, replaced any soft sheathing, and ran ice and water shield at the eaves and through the valleys before laying the field. The dormer cheeks and the garage tie-in were flashed into the slopes, new drip edge went on along the eaves and rakes, and the ridge was capped to match the coursing. On a Cape the eave runs the full width, so it had to stay straight for the asphalt roof replacement to read right.
