Moire Black Landmark Pro on a Seaview Drive Colonial in Barrington
This Seaview Drive home in Barrington is a two-story brick-front Colonial with a white-sided two-car garage wing, black shutters, and a brick chimney on the gable end. Mature shrubs and a wide lawn frame the front. The hip-and-gable roof wraps the main block and the garage, so it carries a lot of visual weight on this elevation.
We installed CertainTeed Landmark Pro in Moire Black. Moire Black is a deep charcoal-black with enough gray movement to keep it from going flat. Against red brick, white siding, and black shutters, it pulls the shutters and the roof into the same dark register and lets the brick stay the warm anchor of the facade, a classic, high-contrast Colonial palette.
We tore the old roof off down to the deck, replaced any soft sheathing, and ran ice and water shield from the eaves and through the valleys before laying the field. New drip edge went on along the eaves and rakes, new step flashing where the garage wing meets the main wall, and the chimney was re-flashed before we capped the ridge to match the coursing. On a Colonial with a lower garage wing, the valley and the wall step-flashing are where a clean asphalt roof replacement shows.
