Moire Black Landmark Pro on a Cape in Pembroke
This Pembroke home is a weathered gray-shingle Cape with white trim, a brick chimney, a covered entry porch, and a lower garage wing, set on a wooded lot. The long front slope with its dormer and the porch is the dominant face of the house, so the shingle color sets the tone for the whole front.
We installed CertainTeed Landmark Pro in Moire Black. Moire Black is a true black with subtle tonal shifts rather than a flat paint-black. Over silvered gray shingles the black roof gives the Cape a sharp, traditional cap, and the movement in the blend keeps the broad slope from looking flat.
We tore the old roof off down to the deck, replaced any soft sheathing, and ran ice and water shield at the eaves and through the valleys before laying the field. The chimney was step-flashed into the slope, the entry porch and garage were tied into the main roof, new drip edge went on along the eaves and rakes, and the ridge was capped to match the coursing. On a Cape the eave runs the full width, so it had to stay straight for the asphalt roof replacement to read right.
