Moire Black Landmark Pro on a Cedar-Shingle Home in Rumford
This Rumford home is a cedar-shingle house with weathered natural shingle walls, crisp white trim, and a steep gable meeting a lower roofline at the entry. A brick chimney rises just behind the ridge. The roof comes right down to the trim over the shingle walls, so the shingle color and the edge details are what the eye catches first.
We installed CertainTeed Landmark Pro in Moire Black. Moire Black is a true black with subtle tonal shifts rather than a flat paint-black. Against silvered cedar shingles and white trim the black roof gives the house a sharp, classic cap and holds a clean line where the roof meets the gable and rake trim.
We tore the old roof off down to the deck, replaced any soft sheathing, and ran ice and water shield at the eaves and through the valleys before laying the field. New drip edge went on along the eaves and rakes, the gable and sidewall transitions were flashed where the roof meets wall, and the ridge was capped to match the coursing. Where a steep plane ties into a lower roof the flashing has to be tight, so those transitions were detailed carefully for the asphalt roof replacement.
