Moire Black Landmark Pro on a Gambrel Cape in Pembroke
This Pembroke home is a Cape with teal-blue clapboard, a red front door, and a gambrel-roofed garage wing topped by a cupola, set on a landscaped lot. The gambrel garage and the main roof put a lot of surface out where the street sees it, so the shingle color carries the whole property.
We installed CertainTeed Landmark Pro in Moire Black. Moire Black is a true black with subtle tonal shifts rather than a flat paint-black. Against teal-blue walls and white trim the black roof gives the Cape a crisp, classic cap and ties the main house and the gambrel garage together under one consistent color.
We tore the old roof off down to the deck, replaced any soft sheathing, and ran ice and water shield at the eaves and through the valleys before laying the field. The gambrel garage and the dormers were flashed into the slopes, new drip edge went on along the eaves and rakes, and the ridges were capped to match the coursing. A gambrel breaks at every rafter, so the steep and shallow pitches had to line up clean for the asphalt roof replacement.
