Moire Black Landmark Pro on a Gray Colonial in Milton
This Milton home is a two-story colonial with blue-gray clapboard, black shutters, cream trim, and a brick chimney off the ridge, set on a sloped neighborhood lot. The two main roof planes carry the front, so the shingle color reads directly against the gray walls.
We installed CertainTeed Landmark Pro in Moire Black. Moire Black is a true black with subtle tonal shifts rather than a flat paint-black. Against blue-gray walls and black shutters the dark roof reinforces the trim and gives the colonial a crisp, defined top edge.
We tore the old roof off down to the deck, replaced any soft sheathing, and ran ice and water shield at the eaves and through the valleys before laying the field. The chimney was step-flashed into the slope, new drip edge went on along the eaves and rakes, and the ridge was capped to match the coursing. On a symmetrical colonial the eave and ridge lines are what the eye checks first, so that is where the asphalt roof replacement had to stay true.
