Moire Black Roof and Arctic White Hardie Siding on a Wellington Drive Raised Ranch in Hudson
This Wellington Drive home in Hudson is a raised ranch with a brick chimney, an attached garage under the right end, and a teal front door at the top of the entry stairs. The lot slopes up off the street and new foundation plantings line the front. On a raised ranch the long horizontal lines of the siding and the single main roof plane define the whole look, so both were replaced together.
We re-sided the house in James Hardie fiber cement clapboard in Arctic White. Hardie is a dimensionally stable, fire- and rot-resistant board that holds a crisp shadow line, and Arctic White gives the house a clean, bright base. We roofed it in CertainTeed Landmark Pro in Moire Black; the black roof caps the white walls with high contrast and ties into the dark window frames and the brick chimney.
For the roof we tore off down to the deck, replaced any soft sheathing, and ran ice and water shield at the eaves and valleys before laying the field, then set new drip edge, flashed the chimney, and capped the ridge. For the siding we ran new house wrap, trimmed the windows and corners, and lapped the Hardie to a consistent reveal. The combined asphalt roof replacement and siding replacement were detailed so the eave, corner, and trim lines all stay straight across the front.
