Pewter NorthGate on a Colonial in Marshfield
This Marshfield home is a two-story colonial set on a neighborhood lot, with clapboard siding, a center entry, and a brick chimney. The two main roof planes carry the front, so the shingle color sets the tone for the whole elevation.
We installed CertainTeed Landmark NorthGate in Pewter. It is a durable, cold-weather-rated architectural shingle, and Pewter gives the colonial a clean, traditional cap that frames the facade and holds a crisp line against the walls and trim.
We tore the old roof off down to the deck, replaced any soft sheathing, and ran ice and water shield at the eaves and through the valleys before laying the field. The chimney was step-flashed into the slope, new drip edge went on along the eaves and rakes, and the ridge was capped to match the coursing. On a colonial the eave and ridge lines are what the eye checks first, so that is where a clean asphalt roof replacement shows.
