Pewterwood Landmark Pro on a Coastal Home in Falmouth
This is a big, layered home on Metoxit Road, clad in gray-blue cedar shingles with a two-car garage, a wide front shed dormer, and an arched window set into the right gable. Two skylights sit in the front slope. A roof with this many planes, dormers, and penetrations is only as good as the flashing details, and the homeowners wanted it done right.
We installed CertainTeed Landmark Pro in Pewterwood. It’s an asphalt architectural shingle with a gray-pewter blend that holds its own against the cool cedar siding and the home’s scale. On a house this size, a busy or high-contrast color would fight the architecture. Pewterwood keeps it calm and lets the lines do the talking.
The skylights and dormer drove the install. We reflashed around both skylights with new step and head flashing, ran ice and water shield up from the eaves and through the dormer valleys, and set fresh drip edge along the rakes and eaves. Every plane change got tied in before the field shingles went down. That’s the difference between a complex roof replacement that lasts and one that finds a leak at the first plane it can.
