CertainTeed Cedar Impression T5 Siding on a Buzzards Bay Cottage
The wood siding on this Buzzards Bay cottage was done. Aging out, losing its finish, and letting moisture in where it shouldn’t. The owner wanted something that would hold up to coastal weather without needing constant attention. Can’t blame them.
CertainTeed Cedar Impression T5 in Charcoal Gray was the right fit here. The T5 profile has that staggered shake texture, and the polymer material handles salt air without rotting or fading the way real cedar does after a few seasons on the coast.
The old siding came off down to the sheathing. Everything underneath got inspected for moisture damage before fresh house wrap went on. That two-story rear wall took the most time – the deck framing and sliding glass door created tight spots where the first and second floor transitions had to be sealed just right.
Charcoal Gray against the existing dark shutters and white trim gives the place a clean coastal look that doesn’t feel forced. The gable ends and side walls all got the same treatment so the finish is consistent from every angle.
White aluminum gutters and downspouts finished it off. Same cottage, completely different curb appeal.
