All year long your roof takes a beating. It is at the center of all that mother nature has to throw at us. From the hot summer sun to freezing temperatures mixed with blizzard conditions, your roof is an important aspect of your home that can’t be overlooked. Many people often wait too long when it comes to replacing their roof and damage can occur.
If you are unsure what the status of your roof is, follow some of these warning signs that your roof may be in need of a replacement.
Roof Age: How old is your roof? A typical roof usually lasts between 20-25 years so if your roof is in this range or older, you need to be extremely attentive with all issues.
Curling & Buckling Shingles: If your roof shingles are curling or buckling that is a sign you may need a new roof. Check out the side of your roof that receives the most sunlight as that area is most vulnerable.
Roof Valleys: If you notice that shingles are missing or falling apart in your roof valley then it is most likely time for a new roof. Valleys are one of the more important parts of a roof as snow, and rain flows through this area down to the gutters. If this area is breaking down the leaks are most likely right around the corner.
Moss Growth: If there are large portions of your roof covered in moss, then you should have it checked out. It is often more visually of an issue but as moss grows and puts down roofs, problems can occur.
Holes / Daylight through Roof: During a nice sunny day go up into your attic to make sure their is no daylight coming right through the roof boards.
