Pewter Landmark Pro on a Debra Drive Ranch in Portsmouth
This Debra Drive home in Portsmouth is a single-story ranch in a tight-knit coastal neighborhood near the bay, with tan vinyl siding, a covered front porch, and a low railing across the front. The roof is a simple low-slope plane you read straight on from the street, so the shingle color sets the tone for the whole front.
We installed CertainTeed Landmark Pro in Pewter. Pewter is a soft, light-to-mid gray blend that keeps a low single-story home feeling open and airy rather than top-heavy. Against warm tan siding and white trim, Pewter is a calm, neutral cap that suits a relaxed coastal cottage and won’t fight the colors of the houses packed in around it.
We stripped the roof to the deck, replaced any soft sheathing, and ran ice and water shield from the eaves, which matters on a low-pitch roof this close to the water, before laying the field. New drip edge went on along the eaves and rakes, the porch roof was flashed cleanly into the main wall, and the ridge was capped to match the coursing. On a low coastal ranch the underlayment and eave details are where a clean asphalt roof replacement earns its keep.
